Chitra Rangan will represent Canada at the inaugural celebration of the International Day of Light (IDL), May 16 at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, France.
Dr. Rangan, whose research is in atomic, molecular and optical physics, is the chair of the steering committee for IDL-Canada. She will participate in the celebration where Nobel laureates, science and industry leaders, educators and diplomats will gather to consider how advances in light-based science and technology can aid in achieving goals in education and sustainable development.
Dr. Rangan is a physics professor at the University of Windsor, and is a member of the Canadian Association of Physicists. Her trip is sponsored by the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Science and the Vice President of Research and Innovation.
